Ep. 104: The American Dream Board Game Review (Milton Bradley 1979) )
Here is an unknown but great game from Milton Bradley called the American Dream. Object: Be the first to earn 1 million dollars Players move around a board with opportunities to buy/sell stocks, patent inventions and copyright items, purchase insurance, increase yearly salaries, and avoid traps. Each player starts with $50,000 and tries to collect shares of Goodyear, Levi's, Delta Airlines, Hershey's, Coca-Cola, etc. By landing on specific spaces, they can get Experience Cards that allow player to buy/sell stocks and make other business deals, purchase Prudential Insurance for use when player hits a Trap, get American Dream cards which allow player to earn royalties for things like patenting the light bulb or copyrighting Donald Duck, or get caught in a Trap where the player loses patents or stocks or even cash. The game is filled with major brand names like US Steel, KFC, NFL, RCA, and Disney. Check out more here! https://youtu.be/UcHPcCn-e_A

Here's a fun 1974 game from Parker Brothers that isn't well known..the Inventors. The theme of the game is that you are investors in various comically named inventions. The game has a very cool mechanism that does double duty for rolling the dice and applying Patent Claim clips. The Invention Track is where you pick up the various inventions, whereas the royalty track is where you collect money. You get a Patent Claim Clip attached to the invention card Eureka Cards can also be played that allow you to do special actions during your turn. Check out a review here! https://youtu.be/39zshKt4uEY

Checkers has been around for centuries. In the 80's King's Court Supercheckers was released. After each side makes a move, a piece must be present on the Court (green part) at all times --otherwise the player loses. Pieces move as in Checkers except they all move as Kings (no restrictions on direction). Jumps are again as in Checkers, except that you can jump your own pieces as well. See more here! https://youtu.be/P7EppvaplBM

For all of you fans of bluffing games, here's and old one from the 80's called Ghosts! (https://youtu.be/P5jHLF0aY5Q) Each player has four good ghosts and four evil ghosts – but only the player who owns a ghost can see whether it's good or evil (as with the pieces in Stratego). Each turn, a player moves one of his ghosts one square orthogonally. Moving into an opponent's ghost kills that ghost. To win, you must get rid of your own evil ghosts, kill your opponent's good ghosts, or move one of your good ghosts off the board from one of your opponent's corner squares.

When one thinks of vintage board games, Stop Thief from Parker Brothers often comes to mind. Created in the 70's, you and your opponents are licensed private detectives. The thief you’re after is computer controlled and completely invisible. But you can hear him! With your ELECTRONIC CRIME SCANNER you can eavesdrop on the thief whenever he moves on the board. Each sound you hear is a clue that will help you track him down. Soon to be rereleased! See more at https://youtu.be/WSwJkaSFeYc

We've all seen sports games turned into board games. A unique one to hit the early 80's was Football Fever. Football Fever uses over 20 various shapes and color dice to call plays and conduct all aspects of a football game. Some are even shaped like footballs! The deluxe version has a heavy-duty case covered in brown plastic simulated leather, complete with metal closures and a carrying handle. with a built-in playing field and scoreboard, clock as well as yardage, ball and down markers along with pegs to note time, quarter, time outs. It also comes with cards to access offensive and defensive penalties. Check out more at https://youtu.be/N196KE81zUs

The game "Clue" has had a few spinoffs. One of the lesser known ones is "Clue: The Great Museum Caper". This is a semi-cooperative game which puts the "thief" against the rest of the players, who take the role of detectives. As the thief, you secretly plot your movements around a private art museum and attempt to steal various paintings.. As you go, the detectives take turns trying to find you with their eyes, the video cameras, or motion detectors. The thief can deactivate the cameras, and can even cut off the power to the entire museum to mask his movements. Great game of cat and mouse! Check out more at https://youtu.be/ZOQJaLuUy24

This Boring Life Ep.5: Lost Places
Hey kids! This week we have a little something different. An All New Episode of.. This Boring Life, where every episode we will explore The Secret Origin Of IseeRobots. One Topic At A Time. The topic for this episode? Lost Places or, Places that I used to go to all the time that for whatever reason are now gone. It's a real fun but also sort of sad episode. I got super bummed talking about these 5 place that were super important to me, a restaurant that my family used to go to, a water-park, a magazine store and a couple other places like that, i think my bumming shows but don't worry. I still had fun Still though, it's an interesting piece of history especially for a Sonoma County resident but even if you aren't just hearing about this stuff is sure to make you remember some places that you used to love going to. Give it a listen and make sure to tell a friend!
