If you've ever wondered what a cross between Battleship and Stratego would look like, Tank Battle is the answer. The object of this game is to destroy your opponent's six tanks before he does the same to you. In addition to your tanks, you deploy an Ammo Dump, a Fuel Dump, your HQ and five Anti-Tank guns. On a turn, you first plot secretly (using a peg board) where you think your opponent's tanks will end their move. Once you're ready, he moves. If you guessed correctly, the tanks are killed. There are slso mines you can set and more...it's fun :) See it in action: https://youtu.be/-5wM7iNrEF8

Here is a massive 1992 heavily produced game called DarkWorld from the AS Company. Along the lines of HeroQuest, one player is the evil lord who controls the dungeon in which the rest of the players move their characters from room to room, fighting monsters and gaining treasure. Real working treasure chests with magic weapons inside and the figures even get to put their new weapons in their character's hands. Comes with 2 big expansions as well. (Norm) we're playing a collector's item of sorts called movie moguls. It plays a lot like Monopoly, only you are buying classic movie productions as opposed to properties and the stars of the movies as opposed to houses and hotels. You can actually buy the stars that your opponents need for their production to keep them from increasing their fees or winning awards. Pretty cool game.

(Norm) Fireball Island by Milton Bradley is one of our favorite vintage board games. I don't believe it was a big seller back in the 80s but everyone that bought it loved it. A 3d board, a red jewel, hex tokens, explorers, a tiki idol, bridges, fireballs that send your opponent into oblivion, and cards that can help you or hurt your opponent make up this great game. We have a super fun show ahead of us this week. We start off with some tales about my recent trip to The Scorch, AKA Phoenix Arizona. I hit up some comic stores, thrift stores, a VIDEO STORE and I 'm gonna tell you all about it. It's a fun time. After that it's on to At The Movies where we talk about a neat Science Fiction flick I saw called Life. From there we move to the main event of the show... Tales From The Dig: Phoenix. Murder she wrote. Not just a TV show, but a board game as well. Published in 1985, one person plays the murderer and the other five play detectives. The murderer has to kill at least five witnesses and escape and the detectives have try to find out who it is before they do so. It's actually a pretty good game! If you are a fan of the game Ticket To Ride, come check out Rail Baron. Rail Baron is one of the earlier train games. Players move trains along historical USA railroad lines and collect delivery payoffs. They compete to purchase the railroads in order to assemble a network that gives access to important map destinations while simultaneously trying to prevent their opponents from doing so. Every so often you come across a game you've never heard of, by a company you've never heard of. And it turns out to be a great game. Extinction: Game Of Ecology happens to be one of them. Created in 1970, you will be assuming the role of a species. Object is to eliminate your opponents species. You will be able to migrate, reproduce, change genes, insert barriers like cities and rivers, prey on species, and compete against them. However, you will have to contend with fire, pollution, famines, droughts, cold waves, and man made disasters that can wipe out some of your species if you aren't protected by it. GREAT game. Dark Tower. This game has quite a story. Milton Bradley released it in 1983. The problem. A couple of people had submitted a game concept very similar to Milton Bradley. They rejected it, and then made this game. The people sued Milton Bradley for stealing their concept and eventually won. MB had to pay them $750,000, and the game was never produced again. A complete copy of Dark Tower goes for around $250 on ebay. And it's a game that is ranked high amongst games.

Like puzzle games? Parker Bros created a classic in the 70s called Black Box. One player creates a puzzle by secretly choosing the positions of 4-5 marbles on a 8x8 grid. The other player tries to guess their positions by shooting 'rays' into the grid and seeing how they bounce around. The player requiring the fewest rays to solve a puzzle wins. Fans of detective games probably remember this one from the early 80s. Scotland Yard from Milton Bradley featured a game board that was the map of London. Five detectives would work together and go searching for The Elusive Mr. X, in hopes of catching him before he escaped. You can travel by bus, taxi, Underground Railroad, and in Mr. X's case you can travel by boat as well. A challenging one for sure! See a review of it at https://youtu.be/Y-WFw9GxzgI
